St. Michael Catholic School is blessed with 5 full-time specialist teachers for Music, Physical Education, Spanish, and Technology.
Students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade at St. Michael Catholic School have the opportunity to learn about the history of music, musical theory, and music appreciation through music class. Students also have the opportunity to perform in the classroom setting as well as in special holiday programs throughout the year. Middle level students (grades 5-8) have the opportunity to join choir and/or band .
Beginning in Kindergaten students are taught the importance of engaging their entire selves in their learning through LEAP (Learning through Enrichment and Academic Preparation) which integrates gross motor movements with early literacy and math skills. Beginning in second grade students participate in traditional physical education classes.
All students in Kindergarten through grade 8 receive instruction in the Spanish language. They are also introduced to and learn about the culture and customs of many Spanish speaking countries throughout the world.
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 receive direct instruction in key technology skills, including keyboarding, document creation, presentations, and coding. These skills are integrated into the curriculum to help students develop problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability. In grades 5-8, students continue to refine and expand these skills across all subject areas through ongoing technology integration.
